Dorit Machatsch

Dorit Machatsch was born in Graz and studied singing, Lied and oratorio as well as vocal pedagogy at the Graz Music University; she also completed master classes with Christa Ludwig, Jill Feldman, Margarita Gruzdeva and Brigitte Fassbaender. She is the prizewinner of numerous competitions (Jugend musiziert, the Komarno Operetta Competition, AIMS – American Institute of Musical Studies -Meistersinger Competition). She has appeared in Lieder recitals and opera and operetta productions in Switzerland, Slovakia, Germany, Belgium, South Africa and China (New Year’s Show of the CCTV in Beijing), among others. As an ensemble member of the Graz Opera and as a guest singer (in Baden, Zwickau, Salzburg Operetta Theater…) she has already appeared in numerous musical, opera and operetta roles on stage, for example as Gretchen /Baroness (The Poacher), Joanna (Sweeney Todd), Franzi Cagliari (Wiener Blut/Viennese Blood), Stasi (The Gypsy Princess), Marzelline (Fidelio), Countess (Figaro),  First Lady/Pamina (The Magic Flute), Marie (The Bartered Bride), Anna Reich (The Merry Wives of Windsor), Eliza (My Fair Lady), Elsa (The Sound of Music) and as Marguerite (The Opera Ball). She has already sung in the Murau Operetta Festival in the roles of Marguerite (The Opera Ball), Rosalinde (The Bat) and recently Lisa (The Land of Smiles). She was on tour through Germany, Switzerland and Austria with Heuberger’s “The Opera Ball” and “The Beggar Student” (Laura) by Millöcker .

In addition, there is frequent concert activity with various ensembles and Lieder recitals. Her versatility ranges from song and oratorio to opera/operetta and chanson making her a much sought-after teacher. Dorit Machatsch works as a consultant for singing, vocal training and elocution (KPH Graz, choral director seminars of the Landesjugendreferat, Chorverband, TU Graz, Stimmstudio Graz…)
