Adam Hill: Transmitter and Receiver

Adam Hill: Transmitter and Receiver

The piece takes its text from two poems by Canadian poet Raoul Fernandes, who made his debut in 2015 by releasing the anthology „Transmitter and Receiver“. Combining the singers' words with sounds of radios, telephones, and computers, the piece communicates expressions for which verbal language cannot suffice.

Günther Fiala and Eva Woska-Nimmervoll: Progress

Günther Fiala and Eva Woska-Nimmervoll: Progress

This work is divided into three sections. The first section is defined by a string quintet. The forceful chords resemble a powerful impulse that triggers inner dissatisfaction. Self-doubt and uncertainty result. The second section starts with thoughts circling around: Who am I? What do I want? Where am I going?

Samuel Nadurak: Now

Samuel Nadurak: Now

The piece "Now" was composed by Samuel Nadurak in 2017. It journeys through a rich dialogue between the instruments in the string quintet. It explores multiple techniques, emotions, and themes as it ventures through the various sections.

Franz Novak: Für Frieden (For Peace)

Franz Novak: Für Frieden (For Peace)

With the given theme “Peace of Mind” Franz Novak has concentrated on the essence of the term, namely “Peace.” Isn’t peace for humans as social beings the prerequisite for a state of being “at peace with oneself and the world”?

Ben Pascal: My Crown

Ben Pascal: My Crown

This composition is based on texts by William Shakespeare that also deal with “Peace of Mind”.  On that basis he first produced a lead sheet that he subsequently arranged for the stipulated setting. Because he crosses back and forth among various musical genres, the crossover aspect was especially important to him.
